It is not just the air displays that bring the crowds to Airshows. Many events and displays are held on the ground before and after the Airshow. While no on the ground activities have been announced as of yet, we will list them here for the Festival of Flight 2017 when more information is known!
The Ulster Aviation Society
The Ulster Aviation Society will be returning to Newcastle on the 5th August and will be bringing their replica of the Ferguson Flyer 1911 Replica. The UAS have provided great support to the Newcastle Festival of Flight since its beginning bringing multiple displays each year. They will also be bringing their Replica Spitfire, a former Irish Air Corps Alouette Helicopter, A Gun Turret and an Ejector seat.
Ulster Military Vehicle Club
The Ulster Military Vehicle Club have confirmed via their website schedule that they will return to Newcastle on August 5th 2017 with a ground display of former military vehicles.
The UMVC have been regular supporters of the Newcastle Festival of Flight over the years having sent a number of vehicles to Newcastle for the airshow weekend each year.
While it can’t quite make up for the real thing not being in the skies of Newcastle this year, a full size Typhoon replica will be parked up on the Downs Road and will be available for viewing and cockpit visits between 10am and 5pm.
This will be free of charge. The Replica was last in Newcastle in 2013.
